BINTRAwine - Blockchain, Tracking and Tracing solutions for Wine

Value of wine.
How to enhance the value of production processes in the wine supply chain through blockchain?

SUPPLY CHAIN UX/UI DESIGN BLOCKCHAIN

In today's market, consumers have become increasingly discerning and demanding when it comes to the products they purchase, especially within the food sector. Product traceability has emerged as an added value that significantly influences purchasing decisions.

In this regard, blockchain technology offers a solution by providing stakeholders complete control over the production chain. It enhances communication, visualization, data management, and streamlines the product certification process.

Blockchain serves as a trust-building avenue, constituting an immutable and unalterable record of every activity, paving the way for positive transformations throughout the agribusiness sector.

However, to harness its full potential, designing user-friendly and accessible interfaces is imperative. These interfaces ensure that all stakeholders can comprehend and engage with a technology as intricate as blockchain.

Design and technology as enabling factors for the transformation of an entire supply chain.

BinTraWine "Blockchain, Tracking and Tracing solutions for Wine" stems precisely from the desire to combine IoT and Blockchain to ensure the traceability of information recorded in the wine supply chain.

The project - in partnership with La Sapienza University of Rome and Aton - is aimed at players in the wine supply chain, with the ambitious goal of developing an innovative platform that allows complete traceability of wine products, from the vineyard to the final consumer, in order to enhance transparency and trust within the supply chain. This goal required the active and deep involvement of stakeholders, who were included in both the exploratory and validation phases of the final product/service.

"People want to know about our product. Transparency could be a strong competitive factor!"

The BinTraWine platform, allows for collaborative data recording of the wine supply chain, involving all stakeholders. The graphical interface guides users through data entry activities, simplifying interaction with a complex Blockchain-based tracking and verification system.

The BSD team was responsible not only for gathering requirements through the involvement of stakeholders from the supply chain but also for designing the platform design. The final product is the result of a detailed study of the target market, composed of players of different sizes and maturity in terms of digitization.

For this reason, BinTraWine is a scalable, adaptable and jargon-free solution, making it accessible and implementable in very different contexts.
The technological complexity inherent in the project necessitated a synergy between the project and development teams, which proved to be essential to ensure optimal integration between user and system requirements, thus contributing to the success of the project.
